BIO
Robert
hails from Houston, Texas graduating from Jack Yates Senior High School.
Experiencing the loss of both parents by the time he was fifteen years
old didn't stop Robert from fulfilling his parents’ dreams and desires
for him. Through the mentorship of his foster mother, some friends,
teachers and coaches
that came along side and helped mold his talent,
Robert excelled. He was the very first recipient of the Gale Sayers (NFL
- Hall of Fame [1977], Chicago Bears) Scholarship award in addition to a
full athletic scholarship to the University of Kansas. After playing
four years of football at KU he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Business Administration and also pursued Educational Leadership in
graduate school. He was a fifth round draft pick by the NFL Minnesota
Vikings and played for six seasons where they won five Divisional
Championships, played in two National Football Conference Championships
games and was fortunate to play in one Super Bowl.
Post football, Robert held positions with Control Data Corporation,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tampa Electric Company and Colorado
State University working in recruiting, training, strategic planning,
management, customer and community relations. He was the 1992 Speaker
of the Year for Tampa Electric Company and during his seven years at
CSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences he co-created a retention program
for incoming freshman that, due to its success, became a program used by
the entire University.
Since retiring from the NFL Robert has spoken to
groups in various parts
of the nation doing motivational and inspirational leadership training.
He makes solid use of his experience on the football field, in corporate
America and ministry, translating those experiences into vital and
daring applications to win at life. As a speaker, Robert's passion and
heart become very apparent….. His inspirational talent is gentle but
powerful, simple yet profound. Foundations and building blocks for
motivating and encouraging others to be the best at what they do and to
win no matter what life's circumstances bring their way.
He loves spending time with his wife, Lennie and son’s Robert II,
Samuel, and Jordan, and his daughter Tiffanie at their home near
Windsor, Colorado.
